L’Innesto is the requalification project of the Milano Greco Breda railway station, the first affordable housing district in Italy that aims at achieving climate neutrality: a zero CO2 emissions balance. Winner of the international contest Reinventing Cities 2019 for sustainable urban regeneration projects, L’Innesto is an example for the construction of new housing communities.

CARBON NEUTRALITY A new way of living with zero emissions, that starts with the building construction phase , and goes through to plant systems solutions, bringing about a new way of life for those who inhabit it. URBAN ADAPTIVE ZONE Flexible spaces and services for social housing based on relationships, engagement and neighborhood co-creation by not only the residents, but the whole city of Milan. GREEN, GARDENS AND BIODIVERSITY Over 3000 sqm dedicated to urban gardens, environmental and food education activities, and experimental cultivation. A urban agricultural garden that promotes the circular economy. LONG-TERM RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT An integrated approach to planning, with a long term vision to manage resources, spaces and communities over a thirty year period. INNOVATIVE DESIGN The urban architecture is the work of one of the most accredited architecture firms in Italy, Barreca & La Varra, with a masterplan that plans to reconnect the urban fabric between the Bicocca and Precotto neighbourhoods.
